MISSION

Makenna Finch

I am a multimedia dancer, choreographer, photographer, videographer, and installation artist. I am dedicated to researching how to make dance more accessible by asking the questions, who is a dancer, where does dance get to exist, who gets to see it, and what is it allowed to look like? At the core of my work I believe that dance is a basic human need and right. It is a way to communicate and share kinesthetic knowledge we all have. I create with a strong awareness of the gaze and am increasingly trying to invite new ways of watching and entering into the dance. I am a sneaky choreographer trying to show that everyone is a dancer.
